Spring in Schroon Lake

Welcome to the Schroon Lake Region — a historic group of communities nestled around Schroon Lake in eastern New York. Schroon Lake's position in the Adirondack wilderness – northwest of Lake George off of the Adirondack Northway – provides one of the most accessible and authentic vacation experiences in New York. The region includes the towns of Newcomb, North Hudson, Minerva and Schroon Lake.

Picturesque Schroon Lake comes alive in the summer months, as it has for more than a century. The stunning scenery and charming lakefront communities make the region a hub of summer activity. Once you've selected your lodging at a Schroon Lake summer rental, hotel or campground, you'll want to plan your activities.

Family-friendly activities, from live music at the Boathouse Concert Series to outdoor adventure, make Schroon Lake an exciting starting point for an Adirondack summer vacation. The Hoffman Notch Wilderness and Pharoah Wilderness provide easy family day hikes, as well as more challenging Schroon Lake hiking trails.

Runners flock to the region for the annual Schroon Lake marathon, which features amazing lake and mountain views as you run the Adirondack marathon course.

Schroon Lake fishing is a year-round activity, but summer is peak time to cast your lure in area waterways. Schroon Lake, Paradox Lake, Schroon River and area ponds, streams and brooks are teeming with fish following spring's ice melts and fish stockings. On the Schroon River, you might catch rainbow, brook and brown trout all in one outing.

Spend a weekend tenting, paddling and toasting marshmallows over an open fire or going to a bed and breakfast and enjoying a week of R&R. Summer is also an especially busy time in the Schroon Lake Region for festivals, sporting events and performing arts shows.
