Outdoor Recreation

Perfect Adirondack Location:

Situated at the base of the High Peaks in the Adirondacks and located between two of the largest preserves, Pharaoh Lake and Hoffman Notch, the Schroon Lake Region is the perfect basecamp to start your Adirondack vacation. Schroon Lake is a one stop shop for all of the outdoor adventure you seek!

Gore Mountain

A full service ski resort minutes away from our lodging and dining, Gore Mountain recently completed a major renovation to expand their cross country trails, dining, and gear shop.

Find out more about our skiing and riding.

Snowmobiling

We have an incredible trail system for you to enjoy. Corridor Seven, the major connector in the area, has plenty of great terrain, along with trail-accessible lodging and dining.

Explore our snowmobile trails.

Ice fishing

Most of our fine fishing keeps going into the hardwater season. Enjoy the villages on the ice during the season, or get into the remoter ponds to have the fish to yourselves.

It's easy to get started, especially at annual events like the Schroon Lake Ice Fishing Derby.

Snowshoeing

There's fantastic trails, from the groomed system at Gore Mountain, to the scenic trails when Natural Stone Bridge and Caves opens for winter, and the beautiful system in the Adirondack Interpretive Center at Newcomb.

Our summer trails are just as much fun in the winter and snowshoeing is easy to learn. It makes for a fun, easy, Adirondack getaway weekend. Find out how in the blog post, Choosing the right cave.
