From winter's first snow and beyond, the Schroon Lake Region provides an eclectic, year-round calendar of events to complement a visit to the perfect destination to call your temporary home and Adirondack Base Camp, whether for a weekend vacation or a longer stay. Discover festive community events that celebrate local art and cultural offerings, and a myriad of outdoor recreational opportunities to enrich your next Adirondack adventure.

Dotted with charming shop fronts and enticing dining options, the Schroon Lake Region's quaint village main streets feature ongoing events catering to local residents and vacationing visitors alike. Head to the Adirondack Museum on a day outing then warm up on a cold winter's night at Witherbee's Carriage House, offering ongoing open mic nights where you can listen to local talents or showcase your own musical prowess.

Take a trip to nearby Newcomb and visit the Adirondack Interpretive Center's headquarters where numerous events take place during the winter months. You can augment your day trip with some snowshoeing or cross country skiing on their trail system as well.

In late February, tempt your tastebuds with the annual Chili Cook-off at the local Fish and Game Club and immerse yourself in some local culture.
