As fall rolls through, the leaves disappear and we anticipate winter. In the Adirondacks this ushers in the season of hunkering down and getting cozy. Several indoor educational and cultural events fill the calendar with fun things to do while staying warm! Or if venturing out in the crisp air is what you love, there are still some outdoor events that’ll fill your days as well.
Interact with Nature
The Adirondack Interpretive Center (AIC) in Newcomb has a full calendar of fun and educational events on tap. Nature walks are a favorite at the AIC as well as interactive educational programs on various subjects.
Don’t miss the 8th Annual Newcomb Holiday Craft Fair in late November (23 & 24). Get a leg up on your holiday shopping with unique gifts and homemade designs. Santa will also make an appearance at this event around 1 pm on Nov. 24th. Make a day of it and include some lunch as well - chili, hot dogs, ziti and sausage & peppers round out the menu. And it’s all for a worthy cause, as proceeds from the event benefit Operation Santa Claus.
Drum Roll Please
Schroon Lake also has a cool monthly drumming circle that’s a great way to honor the earth. Join in and watch your stress just melt away.
Make sure you look at our full calendar of events below to entertain you on your visit to the Schroon Lake Region.
