How to get there
From Exit 24, head east on County Route 11 for approximately 2 miles, then turn right onto Valley Woods Road. After 0.5 miles, turn right on to Edgecomb Pond Road. After 1.25 miles, go straight ahead past Edgecomb Pond and Finkle Road for 1.0 mile to parking on left. The entrance is directly across from 139 Edgecomb Pond Road.
The trailhead is a bit tricky to find but well worth the driving venture. This couple hour adventure could surely be added to other short hikes in the area. From the trailhead you will start by following a newly constructed footpath that leads uphill to an old forest road. There is a deceiving sign at this point that says trail closed, it is referring to the woods road, which was the old access trail. Continue to the right along a foot trail that will bring you again uphill to the woods road. At this point the woods road to the left is open to use and is the designated trail.
The old forest road continues to moderately climb as it switchbacks up the steep slopes. There is yellow trail that comes in on the left near the top of the ridge which leads to Edgecomb Pond, remain on the old woods road. The old road will lead you to an outstanding view out over Lake George.
