How to get there
Take Exit 29 off of Interstate 87, turn right, and take a left on Route 9. Head north on Route 9 for just under 7 miles to Courtney Pond, on the left, and park there. The trail is to the right of the pond.
This is an easy hike along a trail that gets very little use. Starting from the attractive Courtney Pond, locate the trail to the right of the parking area and cross a small bridge over the outlet.
The trail from here is quite mellow, even with its small rolling hills. You will pass along the backside of Courtney Pond and come fairly close to I-87. Soon you will see Holiday Pond to your left. You can head down to it for a nice vista over the calm waters, but there is no official trail to the shore.
Follow the main trail to a hiking culvert under I-87. Shingletree Pond is just on the opposite side.
