Directions to Access Points:
From Exit 29 off I-87 follow Blue Ridge Road to Newcomb and take a right onto Route 28N. Head into Newcomb and locate the access road for the Lake Harris State Campground on the right and follow this to the campground, day use fees will apply. The other access point is a bit further up Route 28N at the town beach area, where there is a public launch.
There is decent shore line fishing from the boat launch area and town beach area as well as in the State campground (fees apply during open season). Smallmouth bass and perch are good from shore and bullhead fishing is pretty decent.
You can launch canoe, kayak and motorboat from either location. The deepest waters hold good northern pike for trolling. Largemouth and smallmouth bass are also good if casting toward shore and retrieving to deeper waters.
Fish Species Types:
Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, bullhead, panfish
Please respect private property where it exists. Day use fee required at state campground when facility is open for the season.
Always Follow State fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office.
