Boreas River off Northwoods Club Road
Your Adirondack Basecamp

Directions to Access Points:

From intersection of Route 9 and Hoffman Road in Schroon Lake follow (CR24) Hoffman Road. Continue on CR24 and it eventually turns into Irishtown Road. Take a right onto O’Neill Road in just over 11-miles from Route 9 and a left onto (CR24A) Longs Hill Road. This will bring you to Route 28N in Minerva in roughly 2-miles. Take a right onto Route 28N for 2.5 miles to Northwoods Club Road on the left. Follow Northwoods Club Road for 3.7 miles to the Boreas River Bridge.

Shoreline Fishing:

The Boreas has been a popular fishing destination all over Essex County and this prime location is none the different. There is ample parking along the river on both side of the road and both sides of the river. Camping areas are also available.

This area of the river is shallow with rapids. It is a popular fly fishing destination but it does get some spin fisherman as well. If you are spin fishing, be sure to take advantage of the deeper pools where the trout love to hang out.  The southside of the bridge is bit calmer that the north side. If you want additional fishing opportunities the railroad follows along the west shore and crosses Northwoods Road a bit further in. The railroad is easy enough to use as foot access back to your car or further down the river.

Boat access:

No boat access

Fish Species Types:

Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout

Special Regulations:

Always Follow State fishing regulations and be sure to pick up a NYS Freshwater Fishing Guide at your local outfitters or regional NYSDEC office.
