The beauty of the Schroon Lake Region is best viewed from the mountain tops. If you're new to the great outdoors, visit the State Forest Preserve Land and the Pharaoh Wilderness and Hoffman Notch Wilderness areas for some great easy day hikes. Mount Severance and Gull Pond are both family-friendly day hikes that are quick and rewarding.
If you're looking for a challenge, take a trip to Pharaoh or Macomb Mountains for longer, steeper hikes.
