Steve Piatt has served as editor of New York Outdoor News since the publication was launched in the fall of 2004, and has been a newspaper reporter and editor for over 35 years.
He's also an avid outdoorsman who has hunted and fished across much of North America, with a focus on spring gobbler hunting (he's taken the grand slam); deer hunting (with bow or rifle) the Southern Tier of New York and the big woods of the Adirondacks; fly fishing famed waters in the Adirondacks and Catskills as well as backcountry brook trout streams; and hunting pheasants with one of his Labrador retrievers.
Steve is a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Trout Unlimited and the National Rifle Association, and works out of his home office in Elizabethtown in Essex County, about 10 minutes off his smallmouth bass water of Lake Champlain.
His frequent hunting and fishing partner is his wife Paula, who serves as associate editor of New York Outdoor News.
